TOWN COUNCIL WEST
 William "Bill" Reiner

" I’ve had the privilege of serving as Town Councilor for Windham’s West District since November 2021. With over 19,000 residents in town, I know it’s impossible to satisfy everyone on every issue, but I hope my efforts have made a difference for our community. As I run for reelection in November 2024, I ask for your support to continue serving Windham for another three years."   ~William ~

About Bill

William "Bill" Reiner first experienced Maine in 1982 while attending the University of Maine at Orono. After moving back to his home state of New Jersey, he always had a goal to return to Maine. From 1986 to 2016, he worked as an Inner-city Paramedic and later as a Critical Care RN. In 2016, after researching Windham, he made the move and hasn’t looked back, finding it a great community to raise two young kids. In 2021, he learned there wasn’t a candidate for the West District, so he ran as a ‘write-in’ candidate and secured the position.

Serving on the Town Council is a privilege for him, as he represents not only the West District but all of Windham’s residents and businesses. While registered as a Republican, he believes the Council is best served in a nonpartisan approach, focusing on issues that go beyond party lines. Bill has always been open to listening to all concerns and has been called a ‘Common Sense Republican’ by a respected retired public official.

During his first three-year term, several key projects were completed, including the protection of over 700 acres in the East Windham Conservation Area, the initial stages of the North Windham Sewer project, and improvements to South Windham roads. Though these projects were initiated before he joined the council, he strongly supported them as they benefit the entire community.

Reiner has also heard residents' concerns about municipal budgets, taxes, residential growth, and senior affordability. In his eight years in Windham, he has witnessed many changes. Serving on the Finance Committee for two years has allowed him to address these challenges firsthand. Windham is now the 12th most populated town in Maine, with significant residential growth that has placed stress on the community. While he has supported some projects, Bill didn’t blindly approve any; he asked questions, sought answers, and fought for modifications when necessary. He strives to represent residents' thoughts and opinions in decisions that will shape Windham's future, working closely with town staff, committees, and fellow councilors to develop and revise ordinances for the community’s growth.
